RATE OF PLAY
70 minutes plus a 15 second increment per move from move 1. Any player arriving more than 30 minutes late will be defaulted and their opponent re-paired if possible.
ELIGIBILITY
All Cambridgeshire chess players past and present are welcome to enter provided they satisfy one of the following conditions:
1. Were born in the county. 2. Currently resident in the county. 3. In education or employment in the county. 4. Are or have been a member of a chess club affiliated to the County Association
VENUE & DIRECTIONS
The Christie Hall is on Elton Road, Wansford, approx. 600 yards South of the Haycock Hotel. The hall has its own carpark. For Sat Navs, please enter PE8 6JS
REFERESHMENTS
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided free of charge to competitors. Meals and snacks may be purchased at nearby shops, pubs and hotels.
ECF RATING
It is a condition of entry that players have ECF Membership (Bronze or higher) prior to the start of the tournament. This can easily be done on-line at www.englishchess.org.uk
November 2023 Standard ECF Ratings will be used for the Round 1 draw. Unrated players should give an indication of strength on the entry form.
GENERAL CONDITIONS
The first 40 entries will be guaranteed a place, further entries may be accepted if space permits. The organizers reserve the right to refuse entries without providing a reason.
Mobile phones and other electronic devices must be switched off during play.
Play will be in accordance with the FIDE Laws of Chess. Any disputes will be referred to the ECF qualified arbiter whose decision shall be final.
The organizers accept no responsibility for any loss, theft or accident during the tournament. Adult supervision for children taking part will only be provided in the tournament hall.
