A47 between junctions 15 and 20 & Longthorpe Footbridge update
I am writing with an update on the work we are carrying out to construct a new footbridge over the A47 at Longthorpe, which is located between junctions 15 and 16, plus other maintenance works between junctions 15 and 20.
We are currently in the middle of reinstatement works around the footbridge, involving work such as installing new carriageway lighting, resurfacing, kerbing, safety barrier renewal and landscaping on the embankments. We also have upcoming road marking works on the A47 westbound between junctions 15 and 20.
Whilst we undertake the safety barrier upgrades between junction 15 and 16, temporary speed limits will be in place for safety reasons. Speeds will be reduced to 40mph, with temporary speed cameras installed.
Upcoming closures and diversions
To facilitate these works, we need to implement the following closures:

| Friday 21 April, 6pm to Monday 24 April, 6am | 24/7 full closure of the A47 eastbound between junctions 15 and 16. This closure will be extended to junction 18 between Saturday 22 April, 8pm and Sunday 23 April, 6am.
Lane 2 closure of A47 westbound between junctions 18 and 15, Friday 21 April, 8pm to Sunday 23 April, 8pm.
Full closure of A47 westbound between junctions 16 and 15, Sunday 23 April, 8pm to Monday 24 April, 6am. |
| Monday 24 April to Friday 26 May | Full closure of the A47 westbound between junctions 20 and 15, weeknights only, with working hours of 8pm to 6am. |
| Sunday 14 May, 8pm to 6am | Full closure of the A47 eastbound between junctions 15 and 16 |
