National Highways will be renewing road markings on the A47 Wansford Interchange. They plan to complete this work over 2 weekends on Saturday, 8 and Sunday 9 October and Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 October. They will work between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. weather conditions permitting.
To carry out the work safely, National Highways will close the A47 at Wansford Interchange and divert traffic as detailed in the maps above.
Phase 1 (Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 October) – Full closure overnight of the A47 Wansford Interchange (eastern side of the A1) and A1 southbound exit slip road. A1 southbound traffic wanting to use the Wansford exit slip will be diverted to continue on the A1 to junction 17 onto Fletton Parkway and re-join the A47 at junction 15.
Phase 2 (Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 October) – Full closure overnight of the A47 Wansford Interchange and A1 northbound entry slip road. Traffic will be diverted via the A43 onto the A1 northbound to turn around at the A6121 back onto the A1 southbound. Local traffic from Wansford will not be able to use the A47 Wansford Interchange. Traffic will be diverted locally along Old Leicester Road to use the A47 westbound and London Road to use the A1 northbound. To use the A47 eastbound, traffic will be diverted locally along Old Leicester Road to use the A47 westbound before taking the A43 onto the A1 northbound to turn around at the A6121 back onto the A1 southbound and exiting at Wansford Interchange.
