Peterborough Climate Debate

Peterborough City Council would like to invite Peterborough residents, businesses, organisations, community groups, faith groups, health groups and schools to share their views to help direct Peterborough as it becomes a carbon neutral city.

Every resident, business, organisation and community group has a role to play in supporting Peterborough to become a net-zero carbon city. This is an ambitious challenge requiring significant behavioural change and infrastructure improvements. To make sure that we have the highest chance of meeting this ambition, we need to develop plans to decarbonise which are supported by Peterborough’s residents, organisations, businesses and communities. The feedback we receive from the Peterborough Climate Debate will help direct the development of the climate change action plan.

In the Debate, we will share some information on greenhouse gas emissions across the city and discuss some potential decarbonisation options for the city. We’ll then hold a discussion and gather your input for your preferred solutions. You don’t need any knowledge on climate change to take part.

Residents are invited to attend one of five meetings scheduled to take place at the Town Hall in Bridge Street, beginning on Thursday, 10 November. Capacity is limited so please register to attend by visiting: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/peterborough-climate-debate-tickets-453716818217.

An online event for residents will also be held on 23 November. To register, visit: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/online-peterborough-climate-debate-tickets-457073678677.

The presentation will be made available afterwards and residents will be able to share their feedback with Peterborough City Council at any time.

Local organisations, including businesses, charities and public sector organisations are also invited to attend an event at the Town Hall on 30 November. Please click here to register: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/peterborough-climate-debate-business-event-tickets-457089897187. We would like to encourage sustainability leads and a member of the senior leadership team to attend.

Organisations, Parish Councils, schools and Councillors can sign up to host their own event with the council able to offer full guidance, presentations and discussion prompts to assist with this.

Email climatechange@peterborough.gov.uk if you wish to be involved. The guidance and support for these sessions will be available shortly. This will also require no in depth climate knowledge to participate in.
