Forthcoming night time closures on A1 due to work on the A605 Oundle Road overbridge

A605 Oundle Road overbridge (near Kates Cabin)

I am writing with an update on the work we are carrying out on the A605 Oundle Road overbridge, which is located above the A1, near Kates Cabin services. Work includes bridge waterproofing, replacement of joints and parapets, plus drainage works.

Work is progressing and we are expecting to be completed early June 2023.

Upcoming closures and diversions

To carry out the work safely, there will continue to be 24/7 temporary traffic signals on Oundle Road for the duration of the project. This will enable us to undertake works safely during daytime hours.

We will also occasionally need to close Oundle Road Bridge and the A1 overnight. Details of these closures can be found below:

Closure Dates and timings Diversion
Oundle Road bridge Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 April – overnight between 8pm and 6am

Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 May – overnight between 8pm and 6am

8pm, Friday 19 to 6am, Monday 22 May – full 24/7 weekend closure

8pm, Friday 2 to 8pm, Monday 4 June – full 24/7 weekend closure

Monday 5 to Friday 9 June – overnight between 8pm and 6am

Eastbound traffic will be diverted via the A1 northbound to Wansford and return southbound on the A1 to re-join Oundle Road via the exit slip. (Map 1)

Westbound traffic will be diverted via the A1 southbound to junction 17 and use Fletton Park Interchange to re-join the A1 northbound and re-join Oundle Road via the exit slip. (Map 2)

A1 between A605/ Fletton Parkway and Wansford – both directions Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 April – overnight Traffic will be diverted via the A47, A1260 Nene Parkway and A1139 Fletton Parkway (Map 3)
