Night time Closure of A47 between Jct 15 and Sutton Roundabout from 24 July for 15 Weeks

A47 between junction 15/Nene Parkway and Sutton roundabout: resurfacing works

I am writing to inform you that we plan to carry out work to resurface the A47 westbound between junction 15/Nene Parkway and Sutton roundabout, including the westbound entry slip at junction 15, the westbound exit slip to Love’s Hill, and the junction at Sutton Heath Road.

We will also use this opportunity to undertake other maintenance activities, such as installing fresh road markings, as well as replacement of a bridge plug joint, lamps columns, gully grates and frames, safety signage and a set of traffic loops.

Work will start Monday 24 July, lasting approximately 15 weeks, working weeknights only, between 8pm and 6am, weather conditions permitting. During the day, traffic will run on a temporary road surface and a 50mph speed limit in place for safety reasons.

Closures and diversions

To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the A47 westbound between junction 15/Nene Parkway and Sutton roundabout. Whilst the road is closed, westbound traffic will be diverted via Nene Parkway (A1260), Fletton Parkway (A1139) and A1 northbound, to re-join the A47 at Wansford.

During the final week of works, we will need to shut the A47 in this section in both directions, whilst we work at Sutton Heath Road and on Sutton roundabout. The same diversion route will be used in reverse for eastbound travel. Local diversions will be in place for vehicles accessing Sutton, Castor and Ailsworth.
